SeniorMatch (also known as Senior Match) is a dating site for people over 50 years old. It has more than 1 million members since its inception and more than 6000 members are connected every day. It can help you find love as well as make new friends for activities or travel. But what is SeniorMatch worth compared to SilverSingles or OurTime which are also services dedicated to the over 50s. Better, worse, or different? That’s what we will discover together in this complete test.
Account creation
As you know from all our tests, everything starts with the creation of the account because dating services sometimes take opposite directions from the ultra simple to the most complex with a long personality test.
Concerning SeniorMatch, it’s quite simple! First interesting thing, it is possible to register from 40 years old. And yes, when you are just 50 years old you can also be interested in meeting younger singles, and vice versa.
Start by entering your email, gender, sexual orientation, password, location, age and first name. For the location you will see that it is precise since you can even indicate the neighborhood.
SeniorMatch will then ask you for some personal information such as height, ethnicity, relationship status (single, divorced, etc.) and a catchphrase that will appear under your name. Try to put something original, that fits you and that will arouse curiosity. If you are not inspired, you can change it later. Tell a little about yourself and what you are looking for in the other person. And finish with the most beautiful picture of you!
That’s it, your account is created! The site will ask you one last thing, to validate your email with a unique code that was sent to your email.
Discovering the SeniorMatch interface
Because we have tested many, many dating services, the first thing we notice is that the interface is very similar to MillionaireMatch. This suggests that it is the same owner and this is not at all bad news because their site had left us with a very good impression.
To come back to the interface of SeniorMatch, you will find from the home page a timeline like on a social network where you will see the last activities of the members (new photos and other contents), in the discover tab you will manually search for the profiles that interest you, community is like a forum with the possibility to leave jokes or give ideas for a first date, in My Lists are all the profiles that will have liked you, seen your profile, etc., and finally, in messages, the messaging platform to read and send messages.
It may seem complex but it is actually very simple. First, go to discover. On this screen you will be able to customize the singles profiles that are displayed by customizing the age and location. To have more filters, the site will suggest you to take a subscription (we will come back to this later).
On this screen you can quickly see the number of profiles available for this search, some personal information, the famous headline, and if the user is connected and is a premium member.
In our case, looking for a single woman between 50 and 65 years old, in the state of New York, the site shows us a large number of users. Some are premium, others have a verified profile (these are the profiles that should be preferred).
Some profiles are very complete in quality: several photos, detailed ad, many personal information, etc. It is rather reassuring.There is even the possibility to leave comments on the ads of the members which will be visible to all.
In the Community tab, you will have access to the Spark feature, which is similar to the SWIPES feature on Tinder or other similar applications. This feature is not really relevant for SeniorMatch in our opinion. As for Senior Jokes and First Date Ideas, it’s a good way to attract attention to your profile by sharing original content.
What we can do for free
At no time does SeniorMatch indicate that it is a 100% free dating service. So there are some things you can do for free, others you will have to pay for.
Everything we have seen before: creating an account, searching for a profile, viewing profiles, etc. is free.
You can also share first dates and senior jokes for free and even reply to others.
As for the message part with other members, you will only be able to receive a message from a premium member and reply to it afterwards. It only works in this way. You will have to get attention by liking profiles and/or sending winks to hope to receive a message.
If you want to send a message without waiting to receive one, you will have to buy a premium membership. That’s what we’re going to talk about right now.

You will see it quickly when using the site, if you want to do an advanced search with more filters, or if you want to send a message, SeniorMatch will propose you to take a subscription.

If you’re comfortable using SeniorMatch on your smartphone, know that the app is also available on iPhone and Android.
Note that for iPhone, the app is called Senior MeetMe. It is called Senior Match for Android.
You will be able to use the same login on these applications as on the website.
The features between the app and the website are a bit different. On mobile, you will have from the homepage the recently connected profiles, the new profiles or the ones nearby.

Verdict
Easy to use, many quality profiles, free features that allow you to meet people in some cases, and premium subscription rates in the market average, there is not much negative to say about SeniorMatch.
So how does SeniorMatch compare to SilverSingles or OurTime. It’s closer to OurTime but with a simpler interface, but with fewer members. It is different from SilverSingles since the latter offers a personality test and a compatibility algorithm.
Our opinion is that if you are looking for senior singles without more criteria, you can try SeniorMatch and OurTime. SeniorMatch will have more quality profiles, OurTime will have more quantity profiles. If you are picky, choose SilverSingles instead.
